A Bit of Grit and Grace
Ramey Caulkins began her design career in 1996, working for Ann Sacks Tile and Stone, later working for their parent company, Kohler. This turned into an 8-year immersion into the world of craftsmanship, manufacturing, architecture, and materials and surfaces—sparking a curiosity for how things are made, crafted, and age over time.
In 2003, Griffin Design was born, and it became the design studio where Ramey could focus on interior designs and tile, stone, and decorative surfaces consulting in Colorado, Montana, New England and Florida. She knows how to roll up her sleeves and get to work. Having grown up in the sample room, she’s been a part of the design process since as early as she can remember. Her design empathy and expertise are founded on understanding the functionality of a space. Ramey works closely with architects who have an outside-in approach, while she works best from the inside out.
